Accomplishments
I have done a few things over the years.
I was a graphic designer a while ago; my boss retired around 2010 or so. For 25 years, I designed books for the educational market. I was the creative writer for Blueprints for Communication, Inc.
We developed two main units, Courage and Kindness, for grades k to 12. We also had a math book, and a social studies unit for each grade.
My stories were incorporated into the units. Even though I wrote them for the units, they were the copyrighted property of Blueprints, except for the story Clancey. That one was written before the unit was created and remains under my copyright.
The publication list for Blueprints for Communication, Inc. is as follows:
Amber Unit: How an Insect Gets Encased in Amber (original fable)
English Language Series, Kindness Unit: The Ant and the Dove (fable, adaptation) (1st grade); Living Martin’s Dream (poem, co-author) (1st grade); Larry and the Mouse (fable, adaptation) (2nd grade); Clara Barton and the Red Cross (biography, 3rd grade); Florence Nightingale (biography, 5th grade); Beauty and the Beast (fable, adaptation, 5th grade); Meals on Wheels (charity profile, co-author, 5th grade); Mary McLeod Bethune (biography, co-author, 6th grade); Clancey (original fable, 6th grade); Mother Teresa (biography, 7th grade); Kuan Yin Creation Myth (fable, adaptation, 7th grade); The Peace Corps (charity profile, 7th grade); Jimmy Carter (biography, co-author, 8th grade); Robin Hood (fable, adaptation, 8th grade)
English Language Series, Courage Unit: The Elephant and the Ant (fable, adaptation, 1st grade); Firefighter & Policeman (poems, 1st grade); Boomer & Claude (fable, adaptation, 2nd grade); Harriet Tubman (biographical poem, 3rd grade); The Littlest Storm Cloud (original fable, 3rd grade); The Railroad Station (original fable based on true life activities, 4th grade); Karachi and the Vision Quest (original fable, 4th grade); John Rankin (biographical poem based on real life person, 4th grade); Tiny the Ant (original fable, 7th grade); Freedom Bound (original story based on underground railroad activities, 7th grade); The Penguin and the Polar Bear (original Fable, unassigned)
While I was working for Blueprints, I helped a friend of mine tell his story.
Other: Cajun Bill (editor, publication date: January 2003, Odyssey Publishers, Troy, MI) author: William Langdon
2006: First book published (now out of print) Hillbilly Born and Raised. This book is now under revision, and will be republished under the name of “Mimus Polyglotktos.” Otherwise known as "The Mockingbirds."
I am also working out the details for the sequel to Mirror Lake. More on that as it develops.
Other Writings:
I was writing with several online writing clubs over the years:
1999: Star Trek Writing Club, a few characters - 1 Bajoran (Len Redan), 1 Ferengi (Puck), 1 Griffon (invented) and 1 griffiguana (also invented). (A griffiguana is a flying iguana who can talk, but only in his native language. His name was Tiger.) The griffon was also an invention of mine, part lion, part eagle, and part human. He was a lot of fun to write for. His native language has no vowels in it, and his name is unpronounceable. He went by the name Tz.
1998: Greytown – a few characters – 1 hill giant (Jenada); 1 centaur (Flarus); 1 gnome (Phydeaux). Stories take place in a bar named the Cock and Bull Tavern. Jenada is the bouncer.
1999: Haven: 1 shapeshifter (Sharma)
1998: Pern Dragonrider club: 1 green rider (Ennana), several np characters, 1 blue rider, 1 dolphineer.
1997: Penna Dragon world: 1 amethyst rider (Eonra), 1 dragon (Schmiel) and 1 wyvern (Salinar). Also several np characters.
I wrote with each club for about a year or so.
I also submitted 7 poems to the World of Poetry in 1990.
Other achievements:
Graduated 1990 from Hazel Park Adult Education as Valedictorian.
Graduated 2007 from Anthem College (Online) with an unaccredited Associated Degree in Computer Science. The school lost their accreditation one week before I graduated.
I have been a minister since 1993, and have married several couples to date.
I have also been a seamstress for about 50 years. I have invented a few things over the years, and I will post them on this website as well. Stay tuned for those! I make coasters, book marks, placemats, clothes, wedding items, tote bags (I love tote bags), and some other stuff. I even make paraphernalia for walkers.
